About Us:

History of Service:

The Mission offered those seeking refuge a place to find food, shelter, a 12-step program, General Equivalency Degree, and discipleship classes. Through partnerships with area businesses and other agencies, it also provided limited medical, legal and employment services.
Prior to Hurricane Katrina, it met the needs of 75 to 100 people a day - offering services which included:

    worship2hotmealworship1

Challenges and Opportunities:

Rebirth of Seashore Mission

Historically, the ministry of Seashore Mission was a ministry of outreach to the homeless in Biloxi; Subsequent to Hurricane Katrina, the emerging reborn ministry of Seashore Mission will have a broader scope by focusing our resources on assisting those in need. We will concentrate on providing immediate services that aid those who seek RECOVERY, RESTORATION, REFUGE AND RENEWAL.

We will do this by becoming a centralized resource center connecting the person in need with the appropriate agency/social service offering the service needed.

We have begun by developing relationships with various agencies/social services/non-profits to discover what is now being offered and where; we are also asking a basic question to each group: “What are the needs in the community that are not being met.” If we find there is a void in ministry that is needed we will pull together the various groups and collaborate to begin the process of developing the needed ministry in a spirit of community cooperation and in the spirit of Christian love to fill the gap.

Further, in our warehouse facility we will have space available to fill a gap in ministry. Our Case Worker will gather information from those who need assistance and direct them to the appropriate source.

We will also begin meeting with the United Methodist Churches Clusters in the Seashore District to offer opportunities for each to connect and to become a partner in ministry.

As the new reborn, ministry of Seashore Mission emerges, our prayers are that God will continue to reveal His perfect will and that we will be open to all the possibilities of bringing healing and wholeness to the people we serve in the spirit of Christian hospitality.

We invite you to come and join us as we partner to serve the needs of all of God’s children. For further information you can call 228-436-3935.
